After that, accompanied by our guide we will visit the old city, declared a World HeritageSite by UNESCO, where we will visit, among other places, the Basilica of San Vicente in Romanesque style, the oldest in Ávila, the Cathedral of El Salvador, the first in Spain that incorporates the Gothic style, the Plaza del Mercado Chico, center of the town, and we will walk through a sector of the wall. You will have some free time to stroll or, if you wish, buy their famous "yolks", delicious local sweet.
We continue to SALAMANCA, we go straight to the Plaza Mayor, where we will have time for lunch. In the afternoon, with our guide we walk through the old city, also declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, highlights the University of Salamanca, where we will see the facades of the Major Schools of plateres co style, the Casa de las Conchas and the two Cathedrals of the city, the Old and the New, separated by the Patio Chico, one of the most charming corners of the city.
Free time.
Our first stop will be in MEDINA DEL CAMPO, a small city of pre-Roman origin, and one of the most important in Castile in the Middle Ages, it was one of the most important financial centers in Europe at that time. We will walk through its Plaza Mayor, and then take a guided tour of the DE LA MOTA CASTLE (entrance included), a fifteenth-century fortress that had a double mission: the defense of the city, and safeguard the most important archives of the Kingdom of Castile (Note: due to schedule changes in the guided tour of the Castle, sometimes we will not be able to visit it inside, only externally).
We continue our journey through Castilian lands, in the small town of Coca, we visit the COCA CASTLE, considered one of the best examples of Spanish Gothic – Mudejar. We include entrance and guided tour of this impressive castle.
After that we travel to SEGOVIA, but before entering, we circumambulate the city, arriving at the Mirador de la Pradera de San Marcos, from where we will have the best views of the Alcázar of Segovia (which inspired Walt Disney for the castle of the witch of Sleeping Beauty) and its walls.
Later, in the old part of the city, we cross the old Jewish quarter and arrive at the Plaza Mayor, where our guide will recommend places to have lunch and taste the specialty of the area: roasted pork. In the afternoon we will walk accompanied by our guide knowing the city, the Alcázar and the imposing Roman Aqueduct of Segovia, composed of 167 arches, built in the first century and which was in use until 1973, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
