Day
Welcome to your Europamundo Tryp Styles tour! Road to Fruska Gora. Visit the beautiful Fruška Gora monasteries, built by the despotic Brankovic family. Road to Sremski Karlovci. In ancient times, a small Roman fortress existed in this place. The city was first mentioned in historical documents in 1308 under the name Karom. Karom Fortress was built on the ruins of ancient Rome. Visit the Beekeeping Museum and the Živanović family winery with lunch and wine tasting. Continuation to Novi Sad, the capital of Vojvodina. "Vojvodina Trg Slobode" (Freedom Square) is the largest square in the city, built in the 18th century. In the center of the square is the Svetozar Miletic monument, cast in bronze. With the marble base it is seven meters high. On the west side of the square is the town hall, built in 1895 in the neo-Renaissance style. Visit of the Petrovaradin Fortress - "The Gibraltar of the Danube". From here back to Belgrade. Return to the hotel.
Breakfast. Departure towards Viminacium. The city was a military camp of the Roman province of Moesia (now Serbia). At its peak, it would have had 40,000 inhabitants, making it one of the largest cities of the time. It is on the Roman road Via Militaris. The site contains remains of temples, streets, squares, amphitheatres, palaces, hippodromes and Roman baths. A nice detour into the Serbian countryside to visit the Manasija Monastery, also known as Resava. The church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. It is one of the most important monuments of Serbian medieval culture and a wonder of Serbian heritage. Surrounded by high walls, the monumental church preserves its 15th century frescoes. Our final destination for today is the third largest Serbian city: Nis. Its history dates back to ancient times, and citizens are proud of their most famous ancestor: the Roman Emperor Constantine, the same one who brought Christianity to the Roman Empire. Its turbulent history is a peculiar mixture of heroism, tragedy and comedy; and we will feel the part of this as we make our way. Finally, Niš and its citizens are famous for their overwhelming hospitality. Accommodation in Niš.
Breakfast. The first visit to Zica Monastery, it is an early 13th century Serbian Orthodox monastery near Kraljevo, Serbia. We continue to the famous Studenica Monastery, 39 km (24 miles) southwest of Kraljevo, nestled among the southwestern mountains, overlooking Studenica, a tributary of the Ibar. It consists of a group of ancient wood and plaster buildings, a tall bell tower and a tiny white marble church, founded in 1190 by King Stefan Nemanja, who became a monk and was canonized as Saint Simeon. The carvings around the north, south and west gates have been partially defaced by the Turks. The interior walls are decorated with Byzantine frescoes, among which only a painting of the Last Supper remains, and portraits of five saints remain from the original work. The dome and narthex are modern additions. On the way to Kraljevo, the city that has received its current name, meaning "the city of the king", from King Milan I of Serbia in honor of his own coronation and six Serbian kings who had been crowned in that area. Accommodation in Kraljevo.
Breakfast. Departure to the Ravanica church, which is called the birthplace of the new artistic movement "Moravian School" due to the architectural and artistic features. It is an original mix of Mount Athos and the five-dome cross square pattern that became standard in the days of King Milutin. Then, we will continue with the visit of Oplenac and Topola and listen to the wonderful story. On top of the Oplenac hill, Topola town, we will see the Oplenac - St. George church, founded by King Peter I of Yugoslavia, the royal mausoleum, the royal house of Karadjordjevic. Return to Belgrade. Accommodation.
Breakfast. Airport transfer. End of our services.
